The Grand Port Maritime of Marseille Fos
The port of Marseille Fos was built in 1966 by the State. Historically, the autonomous port is a major oil port. The port of Marseille is originally the economic center of the city. Financially, the port is classified as indispensable. However, in recent years, particularly in 2008 and the economic crisis, the port has encountered some difficulties. To cope with these difficulties, the managers decided to rebuild the port in order to diversify their activities, and thus fight against the decline of the oil business. Today, the Grand Port Maritime of Marseille Fos is a major player in international trade, particularly thanks to the transport of goods in containers, as well as dry bulk transport.
Ranked as the No. 1 port in France, the Grand Port Maritime of Marseille Fos handled nearly 91 million tons of goods in 2016. That same year, this port was ranked as the 43rd largest port in the world.
It is composed of two basins: the East Basin, dedicated particularly to the flow of goods as well as to the handling of ships; and the West Basin, dedicated especially to the reception of large ships, as well as to the processing of intercontinental traffic.
In the entire terminal, which covers an area of 10,400 ha, 25 ship calls are counted each day.
The Major Seaport of Havre
The Major Seaport of Le Havre was created in 1517 by King François I. Originally, the port of Le Havre, located in Normandy, was a fortress limiting the entrance to the Seine, but also a trading port and a fishing port. The city of Le Havre was not only born after the construction of the harbor, but it came into being mainly because of it. Le Havre has subsequently become the leading French port in terms of international trade and container traffic, and has connections with more than 650 ports worldwide.
The port of Le Havre is also essential for the transportation of goods to the French capital. Indeed, the access for the goods which have to go to Paris via the Seine is made in the port of Le Havre.
Ranked as the 2nd largest port in France in terms of total traffic and the 56th largest port in the world in 2017, the Grand Port Maritime of Le Havre handled, in 2017, 68 million tons of goods.
However, the port of Le Havre is ranked as the leading French port in terms of containerized traffic with, in 2017, 2.8 millions TEU. The terminal of Le Havre covers 10,600 ha, and is ISO 9001 and ISO 28000 certified. It also has the Port Environment Review System (PERS) environmental label.
Major Seaport of Dunkerque
Built in the 11th century, the Major Seaport of Dunkerque was founded to have fishing as its main activity. The commercial activity was only born in 1350, thanks to the relations with England and Holland. The port of Dunkerque is strategically located near Lille, which is a city located in the heart of the triangle formed by the French, Belgian and English capitals.
Ranked as the 3rd largest port in France and 88th largest port in the world in terms of total traffic, the Port of Dunkerque handled 53 million tons of goods in 2019.
As regards containerized traffic, the port located in the north of France welcomed, in 2019, 450,000 tons of TEU.

Paris - Charles de Gaulle Airport
Opened in 1974, Roissy-Charles-De-Gaulle airport is located about 25 km from the city of Paris. This airport was opened following the saturation of the airports of Orly and Le Bourget. The airport is named after President Charles de Gaulle, who was, at the time of the decision to create this airport, President of the Republic in France.

Paris - Orly Airport
Originally, Paris-Orly airport was located in Vitry-Châtillon, and was named Port-Aviation. Inaugurated on May 23, 1909, Orly was the first organized airfield in the world, and was used as an air meeting point. During the Second World War, the airport was used as an airfield for Allied aircraft.
Currently, the airport of Paris-Orly is located 10 km from Paris. With a surface area of 1,528 hectares, it takes its name from the commune in which it's located.
Ranked 2nd national airport and 10th worldwide in terms of cargo transport, the airport handled 91,829 tons of goods in 2019.

Toulouse-Blagnac Airport
Voted by the city of Toulouse at its liberation in August 1934, the Toulouse Blagnac international airport was used by the army during World War II. During the war, one of the two existing runways was extended by the German occupation. This runway is still today runway number 1. At the end of the war, the airport is reassigned to civil aviation. It undergoes major work thereafter, to develop air terminals.

Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport
Once called Lyon-Satolas, Lyon Saint-Exupéry International Airport was inaugurated in April 1975. It was built against a background of saturation of Lyon-Bron airport. Located in an urban area, Lyon-Bron airport was also unable to receive long-haul aircraft because its runways were too short. Lyon Saint-Exupéry Airport was therefore built following a decision by the Lyon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI), which wanted to promote the city and develop it on an international scale.
Covering an area of 2,000 hectares, Lyon airport handled 57,278 tons of freight in 2019.
